Maps and travel
Your realm's map
- Each realm has its own map, a large island closed to the other realms. The three maps are built on the same model.
- In the south, the starting valley (levels 1 to 10), on its lake, with the town: the merchant, the trainer and the ferryman.
- To the north, two regions per level range, more and more dangerous. At the same level, two settings to choose from:
| Levels | Regions | Monsters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | Starting Valley | goblins |
| 10 to 20 | Duskmist Hills, Bramble Woods | goblins |
| 20 to 35 | Ooze Marsh, Mossy Slopes | Ooze goblins |
| 35 to 50 | Golden Moors, Sunset Ponds | brigands |
| 50 to 70 | Dry Woods, Arid Plateaus | renegades and their healing monks |
| 70 to 100 | Forest of Shadows, Dark Ridges | black legion |
- When you enter a region, its name and levels show in the middle of the screen.
- Regions are separated by rivers or cliffs: you cross where a road crosses, or at another ford along the border.
- Roads link the outposts, on each side of the island. Each region has its outpost at its southern entrance: a ferryman, a tower and two houses in the realm's colours.
- Each region's monsters are described in Monsters.
The view
- Everyone sees the same area around their character: 30 × 17 tiles, whatever the screen size (a little less on phones, where the picture is enlarged: see Mobile and tablet). A big screen gives no advantage.
- Minimap in a corner of the screen. M key (or a tap on the minimap): the big map.
The ferryman
There is one at each outpost. Talk to him with a click or with the E key.
- Bind here (free): after a death, you come back near this ferryman. Only one bind at a time. Without a bind, you come back to the start of the valley.
- Discovering: passing within 8 tiles of a ferryman adds him to your list.
- Messengers: a ferryman of your realm takes you to any other ferryman already discovered, following the roads, 2.5 times faster than on foot. Price: 0.2 coins per tile travelled (at least 1), paid when leaving. Example: from the valley to the first region, about 27 coins.
- During the journey, you do nothing else, but nobody can aim at you and monsters ignore you. The Get off button stops the journey where you are (the price isn't given back).
- You can't leave in the middle of a fight: a messenger is not a way to flee.
- All ferrymen also lead to the War of the Realms, the only map shared by the three realms. On the way back, you arrive at the valley's ferryman. Everything is explained in The War of the Realms.
- The merchant, the trainer and the ferrymen have a proper name, which changes from one server to another.
Moving around
- All characters and monsters walk at the same speed, except for slowing or speeding effects, stealth and serious wounds.
- No automatic pathfinding: the character goes straight ahead and slides along obstacles.
- Water, cliffs and plateau edges block the way. You go up and down plateaus only by the stairs.
